LEVEL 2 - COASTEER EXPLORER

This coasteer is for older juniors, confident families and adults who are confident in the water and would like the challenge of climbing and scrambling through channels and caves, snorkelling and swimming in deeper water and navigating the coastline through an introduction to jumping from various small to medium heights! Great for building water confidence and even more of a buzz in waves!

Juniors and Adults must be competent swimmers and confident in the sea – 100m non stop swimming ability is a minimum condition for this level. Juniors must be 12yrs+ to start at this lesson independently and be a good swimmer. Any younger juniors must have done our level 1 course and be approved by an instructor that they are ok to do level 2. They must also have an adult guardian prepared to be responsible for the junior who is competent and confident in the sea.

We are also approved by the Adventure Activities Licensing Service.

Lesson Information

TWO HOUR LESSON

Lessons last two hours and all equipment is provided. All must be able to swim 50 metres unaided. Participants must be

  • 7yrs + for SUP XL and Coasteering
  • 13yrs+ for individual SUP

 

 

 

HIGH QUALITY EQUIPMENT

We provide top of the range 5mm wetsuits, high quality SUP boards/paddles and all accessories required for the time of year so you're really warm! Coasteering we provide all Safety equipment and re-enforced wetsuits.

FACILITIES

We operate from the Belhaven Surf Centre, a wonderful brand new facility on the beach.

The surf centre has hot and cold showers and underfloor heated changing rooms next to the south side of Belhaven Beach.

WHAT TO BRING

All equipment is provided but please bring a swim costume, towel and sun protection.

If you require medication such as inhalers, insulin etc, please ensure that you notify instructors so it can be taken to beach in our safety bag.

RATIOS AND STAFF

Standard lessons have a max ratio of 1 instructor to 8 pupils and are often supplemented with an extra assistant.

Our staff all have lifesaving or beach lifeguard qualifications, are disclosure checked, and have an ASI or ISA level 1, 2 or 3 instructor qualification.

CONDITIONS

South East Scotland is one of the UK's best locations to learn to surf with perfect, small beginner waves in Scotland's sunniest location.  Belhaven Beach is one of the best beginner friendly beaches in Scotland.

In the event of no waves, you will be contacted in advance and offered an alternative sport suitable to the weather conditions, such as stand up paddle, coasteering, surf skate or a beginner zero surf class.  Our range of sports means that we can offer an activity in all but the most extreme weather conditions.
