Travelling and surfing in Scotland can be an awesome experience! Surfing late into the night in the summer on the east coast, camping on empty golden beaches in the north or sharing waves with dolphins on the Western Isles, Scotland is truly an amazing place to surf and travel!

Coast to Coast will be organising surf trips within Scotland in 2008. Destinations will be decided on wave potential, size and experience of group the week before we leave, so be prepared for a trip to the north coast or a ferry to the islands.

Coast to Coast now have our own surf bus and arrange pick ups in Dunbar, Edinburgh, Perth and Inverness if going North and Glasgow if going West. All surf tours include top of the range equipment and for Green and Blue tours we also provide filming and a variety of surf boards to aid surf teaching all included in tour prices. We have also listed trip reports from the 2007 tours below to give you a flavour!!

Our courses are structured to your ability, please use the following as a rough guide below :

C2C Whitewater (W) assumes little or no basic surfing knowledge. These courses are aimed at beginners and most lessons are normally run at Belhaven beach. However we do offer beginners the opportunity to join our courses on some of the magical Islands tours. Alternatively you can join our whitewater weekends that can become 2 day surf tours if the local surf is poor. click lesson for dates.

C2C Green Wave (G) assumes basic surfing fitness level and experience. These courses aim to teach you more about reading waves, understanding beaches, catching and riding unbroken waves and the basics of turning and generating speed.

C2C Blue Barrel (B) assumes competence in bigger surf and a good surfing fitness level. We look at video analysis to improve performance, search for quality waves and look at all aspects of surf fitness and mobility to improve technique.

2008 Past Trips

C2C Surf Tour (G +B) 16th/17th Aug - This surf tour weekend stayed at home due to the best conditions in Scotland on our doorstep. Nice small waves helped the group progress turning and speed generation techniques and we also showed a variety of fun longboarding tricks. With classroom video analysis added in the group learned a lot.

C2C Island Tour (W+G+B) 27th July-2nd August - Outer Hebridean surf adventure that saw consistent small surf through the week, ideal for the group with lessons each day and trips up and down the island to catch the best surf. With stunning sunsets, beach fires, barbes and nice longboarding surf the group had a truely relaxing holiday. So much so that 75% of the customers sent positive thank you messages to our staff inside the week of return!

C2C Surf Tour (G +B) 19th/20th July - Literally a coast to coast tour chasing waves on the west coast on the Saturday and then the east coast on Sunday. Was a great weekend with a good group of improver surfers.

C2C Island Tour (W+G+B) 29th June-5th July - Outer Hebridean surf adventure. The best week we have done with offshore surf between head and a half and waist high all week we got perfect conditions for the group. Add in summer sunshine, long days, beach volleyball, powerkiting, sand dune jumping and a few classic sunsets - was simply great - I love Scotland!

C2C Island Tour (G+B) 24th-26th May - Ran again on the east coast searching out new beaches and reef breaks for the improver/ intermediates with consistent head high surf. Filming and video analysis with coaching allowed all in the trip to increase fitness and have new individual coaching tips to help their surfing imrpve in the future!

C2C North Coast Tour (G+B) 17th/18th May - Amazing tour on the east coast with really nice waves locally. Covered 50 miles of coastline and had great fun with all involved!

C2C Surf n Snow tour (W+G) 29th Feb/2nd Mar - A fantastic trip to the NW of the country with a great group of improver surfers. Everyone was up for the adventure which saw the group surf two days of perfect 2-3ft offshore waves and surf a completely new area on the middle day in perfect 3-6ft surf. Add in some great cottage accomodation with stunning views, really unique local pubs for dinner and the delights of the Scottish winter scenary (snow and sun) it was a brilliant trip and one of the best winter trips we have ever done!

C2C North Coast Tour (G+B) 26th/27th April - Awesome trip to the north coast. Perfect waves from 1ft-6ft, offshore winds and a really good group of improvers, three of which caught the best waves of their lives. Also learned from the best catching the Worlds top pros in action at the bowl at the WQS tour competition at Thurso.

2007 Past Trips

Nov 17/18th : GB Surf tour weekend : Brilliant trip to the North coast hunting out perfect 3ft surf. Hotel accomodation, pub food, beach games, surf drills and a proper coast to coast surf search with a great group of surfers.

Nov 3/4th : W Surf tour: great 4-6ft surf all weekend, lots of fun in the surf from teaching the basics to first white water turns. Really enthusiastic group that returned home very happy but definately tired.

Oct 6/7th : GB Surf Tour to the North Coast. Rewarded with two solid days of surf to chose a mixture of left and right breaking beach breaks. The group surfed some of the biggest waves of their lives and really progressed through a mixture of video analysis and instructor tips.

Sep 22nd/23rd : W surf tour ended up on the north coast. Wonderful weather and the surf was great in the head high range. The group really bonded and with accomodation in a castle and a really good night in the pub on the Saturday all returned south happy, stoked from the surfing and just a tiny bit tired!

Sep 1-3rd: WG Amazing long weekend surf tour to Scotland's wonderful Inner Hebridean Islands. Got 3 days of 3-4ft surf which was ideal size for the improvers on this trip. Camping next to a beautiful beach, we had 3 days of structured surf lessons, beach games and chill time in the sun. Most of the group claimed to have scored the best waves of their lives and we even managed a quick tour to the local pub for traditional folk music!

Aug 25th/26th : W Surf Tour : After an adventurous late start to the weekends trip, the team arrived on Scotlands North Coast. They awoke to a building west swell and perfect 2-3ft offshore waves - perfect for the group. After two great sessions everyone retired to the pub for a tasty meal, darts and pool. Through the weekend the swell built and we took the group to smaller more protected bays where again progress was made in nice 3ft waves. Happy but tired we returned to Edinburgh Sunday night late.

Aug 12th-17th : WG Outer Hebridies surf tour : "Awesome" as one customer described the Coast to Coast August Hebridean Surf tour. Those that joined this trip got really connected with the Island, appreciating the stunning sandy white beaches and sunshine one day, then hiding from gales the next! The surf was consistent throughout in the 3-10ft range and there where some absolute wonderful sessions. And some amazing finds. With barbeques, beach fires, beach volleyball and more it was pretty non stop and the trip even lasted one more day than scheduled to take in a perfect sunny 4ft day at the end.

Aug 4th/5th : W surf tour : travelled to the North West of Scotland and we got a chunky 4-6ft swell on Sat and perfect 2ft waves on the Sun. All progressed on a fun weekend!

July 8th-13th : WG Outer Hebridies surf tour : Excellent trip to the islands quieter beaches. Great surf all week got as good as perfect 12 sec period head and a half waves and never dropped below waist high. Fantastic group with a real variety in backgrounds. Add in powerkiting, beach rugby, skateboarding, beach fires and barbeques and we got a pretty perfect week. 25 hours of surfing and surf lessons and a big improvement in standards.

June 23rd/24th : WG Summer solstice surf trip : Never got dark on this trip to the North West of Scotland. Got great small waves and plenty of practice, quality beach games and loads of fun with a great group of beginners and Improvers.

May 26th/27th/28th : WG 3 day Island surf tour to Inner hebridies : Amazing surf on a long weekend trip to the Outer Heb Island of Lewis. Surf ranged from head high to double overhead all weekend. Sunshine and light winds - top weekend!

May 5/6th : W surf tour. Due to the lack of East Coast surf this trip became a surf trip to the North Coast of Scotland. A perfect Saturday in clear blue skies, 15-20c and perfect wee waist high waves brought a great introduction to surfing for all the beginners. Good food and chat on the Saturday night too. Sunday a weather front came through and it was really windy but all our group battled on and got some nice waves. All left happy and tired (going from the fact all where asleep within 30mins on the journey back).

April 28th/29th : WG North Coast WQS Trip : An awesome weekend on the north coast for all levels. We got great surf on both days (waist to shoulder high waves) and the opportunity to watch the finals of the WQS competition in Brims Ness. The surfing was really inspiring watching some of the worlds top pros take apart perfect 4ft barrelling waves on the north coast. Top trip!!

Mar 31st/1st April : G North Coast trip : Guided surf tour of the north coast for Improvers. What a weekend, blue sky warm temperatures and perfect shoulder high waves for the full two days. Great group of improver surfers who really developed over the weekend. I really enjoyed this trip as it was just full of smiles all weekend!

Jan 19-21st : WGB 3 day Surf n Snow North Coast trip : Probably the best winter trip we have ever done! Amazing waves for three days, great company and a great cottage to stay in. We also bonused a half day snowboarding in fresh 6-8 inches of new snow on the way home.
