Coast to Coast offer a wide range of surf lessons and courses for adults and children structured to help you get the most out of the surf whatever your ability!

The east coast of Scotland provides excellent waves for all levels and abilities, and is perfect for learning to surf. Water temperatures are very comfortable for lessons from late March through to early November. Coast to Coast have 3 qualified surf instructors, Sam, Josh and Tim, who are NARS beach lifeguards and BSA surf instructors . The team also have over 55 years experience of surfing Scottish waves between them and represented Scotland in either surfing or bodyboarding. Our head instructor, Sam, is also BSA level 2 qualified instructor currently the highest standard in Scotland. We work to a maximum ratio of 8 adults or 6 children per instructor or maximum group size of 15.

We offer lessons whenever there are waves (7 days a week) from 10am to 10pm light depending. The courses outlined below are mainly for beginners, if you are more advanced please check out our tours page or get in touch directly.

ADULTS

C2C Whitewater lesson We offer an excellent 2 hour learn to surf course for adults. Assuming no previous knowledge, these structured lessons cover the basics you need to know to have maximum fun in the surf safely! Lessons include a friendly Coast to Coast BSA approved surf instructor and top of the range equipment. Cost £35

C2C Whitewater day This package offers two surf lessons with time for lunch in between. Offering extra drills and double the water time, these classes really help build a good foundation for your first day in the surf. Includes instructor supervision and top of the range equipment. Cost £55

C2C Whitewater weekend This package is an ideal introduction which covers all aspects of surfing a beginner should know! Providing 8 hours plus of supervised water time, the weekends surf programme offers a great opportunity for improving technique and improving fitness. On these weekends there is a large social aspect with beach games and barbeques common place. We also recommend the best local restaurants, pubs and accommodation for the Saturday night.

On all star (*) whitewater weekends below we offer the opportunity for your surf weekend to become a surf tour should local conditions be poor. This means your guaranteed to be surfing somewhere in Scotland that weekend. For more details and to book dates please contact us. C2C Whitewater Sunset course This evening course is a really fun and sociable way to learn to surf and improve your fitness! As with the whitewater weekends we offer 4 seperate progressive lessons, to give you the knowledge and surf expertise to get you off to a flying start! What better than the stoke of surfing on a week night and watching the sunset. We only run two courses a year, so please book early, prices include all equipment and BSA instructor. Cost £100 for 4 lesson course.

Surf n Yoga

Coast to Coast are offering a unique experience, energising the spirit and soul on the wonderful beaches of East Lothian. Offering an hours beach Yoga with our professional instructor Annie Beattie, then when your fully relaxed, the Coast to Coast team take you for a fun 90 minute beginners surf lesson! All equipment included. Cost £40

Availability : Saturdays 12.30pm 2nd Aug, 9th Aug, 16th Aug, 23rd Aug.

Yoga lessons can be done seperately and as a course.

JUNIORS

Coast to Coast offer surfing lessons from March to October for children aged 7 to 16 years. We are starting young, producing the first junior surfing programme in Scotland dedicated to teaching children the basics of learning to stand. If we recognise talent we also offer the opportunity for our most talented youngsters to join our sponsored junior surf club where we meet every fortnight to train, with the aim to produce the top junior surfers in the country in years to come!

C2C Junior Whitewater course These courses run every week of the Easter, Summer and October holidays offering an excellent introduction to the joys of the ocean. Coast to Coast offer a structured surf and beach activity programme that always gets booked up. All our courses are adapted to the age band of the group and current surf conditions. Our experienced staff keep the children on their toes, learning and having fun! The course runs Monday to Thursday each of the following weeks 1pm-4pm and assume no previous knowledge and includes all equipment. Cost £80

C2C Junior Greenwave course This year we are offering a limited opportunity for juniors who have completed the Coast to Coast Whitewater course or those juniors new to us that have surfed before and can stand consistently. This course aims to take the juniors to the next level, improving surf fitness and surfing ability outside the whitewater zone.
