C2C Surf update

Tues 19.1.10. Its going to get really good surf over the next week, with surf every day from tomorrow with medium to big swell from the E and SE and south/south east winds that go light over the weekend.

C2C Lessons and Hires

This weekend we will be hiring from the surf hub at 1pm till dark - to book a board 07971 990361. Our surf lessons and Tours kick off in March 2010 with the new surf season - with interest starting to pick up please book e-mail lessons@c2csurfschool.com. More details under lessons. We are now accepting bookings for groups and individuals including corporate surf days, adult groups, school classes and community groups for 2010.

C2C Tours 2010

The new 2010 tour schedule has gone up with some amazing tours planned. We have trips that start in March with the traditional surf n snow tour, then in April its the WQS Thurso tour, mixing your surfing with the pros and then it picks up with 5 Island trips in a row through May, midsummer and through to the start of September. We return to some favourite magical islands while leaving the possibility open on a few of going to new islands more off the radar! To book in 07971 990361.

C2C Social & Surf Community news

Looks like Beach car park charges are back on the agenda for 2010, with rumours abound that the council are looking to try to install charges again (at the third time of asking) even though their 2008/09 public consultation review showed the public including surfers were heavily against the idea. If you wish to express your view against the charges go to the following link - Coastal charges petition.

After a great film night on Saturday 28th Nov 2009 at the cafe the next social events will be from March 2010. More details to follow.

Surfers Against Sewage demonstrated on Tuesday November 24th for full UV treatment year round at Pease Bay at the Scottish Parliment. The Green Party also joined forces to push for special protection for Scotlands internationally and nationally recognised surf zones as an amendment in the current marine bill.  Also Check out the exclusivity agreements for offshore wind farms in Scottish Territorial Waters west of Macrahanish and North East of Belhaven and Pease release summer 2009.http://www.thecrownestate.co.uk/scottish_offshore_exclusivity_agreements.pdf

The East Coast bodyboarding championships happened on the 24th/25th Oct - report in events. The C2C retro surf expression competition was held in lovely waist high swell on Saturday 31st Oct. comp report now up in events - Max second in juniors and 3rd overall showing some style surfing backwards on a small peeler - not bad for 14 yrs!

Coast Cafe

Launched in Dunbar last year with over 200 people getting down to the funky tunes and watching Danny MacAskill and the Clan Mountainbike team and local skaters putting on a show!! We now have fantastic selection of speciality Mexican and Spanish food, quality cakes, coffees and drinks plus wonderful garden. The surf cafe and new surf school base are located just next to Dunbars train station EH42 1JX. For upto date events and opening times check out the location button and press cafe.

Thurs 24.12.09  nice clean wave today, with snow on the beaches! potential for good surf over the next 4 days but will depend on the local winds but good Christmas and Boxing day surf. Bigger surf on the cards from 28th with more snow forecast! Merry Christmas and Happy new year from the C2C team!

C2C Environment Surfers against Sewage are also putting pressure on Scottish Water to keep sewage systems working year round as many of the local sewage pipes switch off end of October for the winter. C2C Competitions the Scottish surf club competition Gathering of the Clans has been put back to the 17th/18th Oct in Fraserburgh. If you would like to compete for local surf club Belhaven get in touch with us and we can forward details on. We have the Belhaven club championships on the 10th Oct at Belhaven beach and the Scottishbodyboarding championships 24th/25th Oct. The C2C retro surf expression competition has been put back to 31st Oct. This comp is of interest to anyone who likes to ride retro fishes, pods, magic carpets and longboards. The bringing together of local talent and wonderful boards will take place on Saturday 10th October at Belhaven beach - see events for details - check in Coast cafe 9am. We will also have a junior and newcomers comp at the same time.

This weekend Coast Cafe are hosting a surf art weekend 13th/14th June where customers are encouraged to paint the cafes wooden fence, skate ramp and cable holders with surf art and we will also be hosting an informal Skate Jam at 5pm onwards Saturday.

On Sunday 10th May the cafe also hosted the first leg of the Surfers Against Sewage Grass routes tour which covered lots of local issues and real input from the Cornish SAS staff including helping create a new website for local action.

The O’Neil Cold water classic 6 star WQS event was won by Australian Adam Melling.
