C2C RETRO COMP 31st Oct 2009

chris

Results where as follows. Retro Style! With a good turn out all divisions where competitive with the senior longboards even managing 4 heats! Congrats go to Chris Robinson who battled the surf in a genuine 1980’s gul suit showing his retro best.Chris managed his heat and semi-final before switching back to his new millenuim suit!

Best Retro Wetsuit
1. Chris Robison

The first final of the day saw two of our junior surfers (Alistair and Max) go head to head with two of our older newcomers (Pete and Joe). This was a really exiting final with the lead changing hands almost every minute but the slightly better wave selection of the juniors just edging out their senior counterparts. In the battle between Max and Alistair it went to count back (the 3rd best wave) as the top two waves where scored equal with Ali just having the edge!

Newcomers

1. Alistair
2. Max
3. Joe
4. Pete

backwardsmaxThe next final saw Clover join the two lads to compete in lovely offshore conditions with both Alistair and Max trading excellent surf, Clover aged 7 (helped a touch by her Dad) made it out to the line up, where she turned and paddled into a (well overhead for her) wave jumped to her feet and rode gracifully with speed along the green peeling face for a full 50m, the crowd went wild!! When the scores came back Clover just edged first place from the two older youngsters who did incredibly well. Ali and Max will hopefully both represent Belhaven at the Scottish club competition on the 14th/15th Nov.

Junior Final
1.Clover King Christopherson (Age 7)
2 Max Hook Ferguson
3 Alistair MacDonald

img_1294The Longboard senior final had the biggest entry with heats, semi-finals and Finals. In the final old pros, Sam, Tim and Angus faced up to the new wee star Max (who in his third final of the day must of been knackered). With some excellent styling and old school tricks, Angus was pipped by Max, and Tim narrowly lost to Sam on countback. A great event in all and thanks to all that helped make it excellent fun!

Longboarding Senior Retro Final
1 Sam Christopherson
2 Tim Christopherson
3. Max Hook Ferguson
4 Angus MacDonald

img_1279Diane King gained the top lady award narrowly missing the final on count back to Angus who progressed.

sbb2009EAST COAST OPEN BODYBOARDING CHAMPIONSHIPS 24th/25th October 2009 Top bodyboarding wave East Coast

Most of Scotland’s top bodyboarders got together to take on a high quality east coast swell on a good quality reef. The format of the competition was head to head heats, semi-final and final. With quality waves the competitors where linking together some of the best trick combos a bodyboard competition in Scotland has seen with regular 8’s on the scoreboard for barrell, spin, roll, spin, ARS combos. Due to the good overhead powerful surf all the pre-event favorites made the final with Dunbar brothers Josh and Tim going head to head with Aberdeen’s Rupert and Livingston Craig G. The final saw slightly less sets with a very competitive final seeing Josh pick off the set of the day forcing a good barrell and an ARS combo. Unfortunately for the others no similar waves pushed through and Josh took the title. To find out about other comps including the National BBoard champs in January 2010 get in touch with joshchristopherson@yahoo.co.uk.
